Registering as an employer
You must register with the Long Service Corporation if you employ one or more people to carry out community service work.
Employers must register within 1 month of becoming an employer.
Who can complete the registration application
Anyone in an organisation that is nominated to manage the registration process can complete the application. This includes:
- a business owner
- a person on behalf of a business/business owner.
How to register
To register as an employer:
- complete the Employer registration application.
What you’ll need
- MyServiceNSW account
You’ll need an online Service NSW account to register. If you don’t have a MyService NSW account, visit the Service NSW website to create one. We use your MyServiceNSW account to confirm your identity. - Business details
You need to provide:- Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN) and,
- primary business address for the business you are registering.
If you’re a corporation you will also need to provide your registered office address.
- Supporting information
If you’re applying on behalf of a business, you’ll need to provide the contact information of an owner listed on the Australian Business Register. We’ll contact the owner to accept the registration.

How to manage your registration
Let us know about any changes to your business.
Change to your details
Employers must provide any changes of details to us within 7 days of the change.
This includes:
- Employer’s name
- Employer’s business name
- Employer’s ABN
- change of address
- change of contact details
- if you are no longer an employer.
To update your details:
- contact us online or
- call 13 14 41
Cease trading
If you are no longer an employer and cease trading, you will need to advise us so we can update our records.
You will need to complete a final return and pay the required levy.
