Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs)

A PIN is a type of on-the-spot fine applying to minor or easier to prove offences. PINs are an alternative to time consuming and costly court proceedings.

The Building and Construction Industry Long Service Payments Regulation 2022 and Contract Cleaning Industry (Portable Long Service Leave Scheme) Regulation 2022 list offences PINs can be issued for. They also include penalties for each offence.

Transition period

Our initial approach to PINs is education. We want to make sure everyone understands their responsibilities under the scheme.

Until 31 March 2023, offenders may receive a warning instead of being issued a PIN. Anyone found not compliant is still expected to show they are taking active steps toward complying.

In this time, inspectors can still take any other compliance or enforcement actions.
