CSI employer portal access and management - privacy collection notice

Who we are

The Long Service Corporation (LSC), part of the NSW Department of Customer Service (DCS), administers the Community Services Sector (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 2024 and manages personal information in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act).

Why we collect your personal information

We collect personal information about individuals acting on behalf of an employer so we can register employers in the Community Service Industry portable long service leave scheme (the Scheme), set up and manage their Employer Portal access, and administrator statutory obligations under the Community Services Sector (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 2024, including registration, returns, levy assessment, compliance and appeals.

The kinds of information we collect

During employer registration, and when managing Employer Portal access, we may collect personal information about individuals acting for an employer, including:

  • Business user details – full name, position/role, contact details (email, phone), preferred communication channel
  • Business identifiers – ABN, business name, business address and relevant Australian Business Register (ABR) data
  • Authority and relationship proof – details confirming you are authorised to act for the employer in the Employer Portal
  • Account and access details – information needed to create and administer your Employer Portal account and role(s)
  • Identity verification and account linking information – confirmation of identity verification and account linkage details provided via Service NSW (LSC does not require your identity documents; we receive only the information necessary to confirm your identity and link your account)
  • Additional information required to assess registration or support compliance and scheme administration.

Failure to provide information

Providing the requested information is necessary for LSC to register the employer, set up authorised access to the Employer Portal, and communicate about statutory obligations. If you do not provide required details, we may be unable to complete employer registration or grant portal access.

How we may use this information

We may use the information we collect to:

  • register the employer and maintain the employer record
  • verify your identity and authority to establish portal access and permissions
  • communicate with you about registration, returns, levy notices, compliance and appeals
  • keeping you informed about Scheme updates, initiatives and information relevant to employers
  • respond to and communicate about enquiries, complaints and requests
  • support service planning, policy development, evaluation and research relating to LSC’s statutory functions
  • prepare and provide relevant information to the Community Services Industry Portable Long Service Leave Committee if a decision made by the LSC is appealed
  • carry out any other purpose directly related to administering the Scheme.

Who we may share information with

We may share your information:

  • with Service NSW to support login, proof of identity, account linking and display of relevant scheme information
  • with other NSW, interstate or territory government agencies, or scheme administrators, where necessary to verify information or recognise eligible service performed in another state or territory
  • with the Community Services Industry Portable Long Service Leave Committee, if an appeal is lodged and your information is required to review and determine the matter

Your personal information is stored in secure systems hosted in Australia. These environments are implemented under security controls that have been reviewed and approved by Cyber Security NSW.

Your information is managed in line with the PPIP Act and kept only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. When no longer required, it is disposed of securely in accordance with the State Records Act 1998.
