CSI Manual worker matching - privacy collection notice

Who we are

Your information is being collected by the Long Service Corporation (LSC), an agency within the NSW Department of Customer Service (DCS). DCS is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act).

If you are under the age of 16, you should speak with an appropriate adult before sharing any of your personal information.

If you have any questions about this notice, or how we handle your personal information, you can contact our privacy team.

Why we collect your personal information

We are asking you for information about your employer because our system could not automatically identify the correct employer to link to your worker record. This information is needed to enable the LSC to perform its statutory functions under the Community Services Sector (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 2024, including:

  • maintaining the Register of Workers
  • listing each employer for whom you work or have worked
  • administering the community services portable long service leave scheme (the Scheme).

The kinds of information we collect

If automatic matching isn’t possible, we may ask for employer identifiers and linking details such as:

  • your employer’s ABN
  • the payroll ID your employer uses for you
  • the LSC Matching Key given to you by your employer
  • the email address on which you received your initial LSC registration invitation (if needed to retrieve the employer record).

Failure to provide information

Providing this information is voluntary. However, without it we may be unable to identify your employer, and your registration may remain incomplete, affecting our ability to properly maintain the workers register as required by the Act.

How we may use this information

We may use the information we collect to:

  • complete your employer match and finalise your registration
  • update your worker record in the Register of Workers (including employer history)
  • verify your service and confirm eligibility now and in future
  • maintain your Worker Record and WorkerID–EmployerID link
  • contact you about registration or employer match
  • respond to and communicate about complaints and enquiries in relation to the Scheme
  • support service planning, policy development, evaluation and research relating to LSC’s statutory functions
  • prepare and provide relevant information to the Community Services Industry Portable Long Service Leave Committee if you lodge an appeal against a decision made by the LSC
  • verify your employer or service history if you make a future long service leave claim
  • carry out any other purpose directly related to administering the Scheme.

Who we may share your information with

We may share your information:

  • with Service NSW to support login and account linking
  • with other NSW or interstate government agencies where necessary to verify information or recognise eligible service performed in another state or territory
  • with the Community Services Industry Portable Long Service Leave Committee, if you lodge an appeal and your information is required to review and determine the matter
  • with your authorised representative (e.g., tax agent) if you provide consent
  • with other bodies where authorised or required by law.

We will not disclose your information to anybody else unless we are authorised or permitted to do so by law or where you have given consent. For more information, see our Privacy Statement.

Protecting your information

We take steps to protect your information from loss, unauthorised access, misuse, modification, or disclosure.

Your personal information is stored in secure systems hosted in Australia. These environments are implemented under security controls that have been reviewed and approved by Cyber Security NSW.

Your information is managed in line with the PPIP Act and kept only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. When no longer required, it is disposed of securely in accordance with the State Records Act 1998.

Your rights

Under section 17(4) and section 18(2) of the Community Services Sector (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 2010, you have the right to:

  • request access to your personal information
  • request correction of your personal information.

If you wish to exercise these rights, please contact us.
