Entitlements for work before 1 July 2011

If you were working for your current employer before the scheme started on 1 July 2011, your long service leave entitlements for that period will still be covered by the employer.

For example, a contract cleaner who has nine years of service with a single employer and continues to be employed by them for 12 months following the start of the scheme, will apply to their employer for long service leave in the usual manner.

In practical terms the employer would pay the employee the full amount in the first instance and apply to the Corporation for reimbursement for payment (less any outstanding levies due) for periods of service covered by the scheme.
