About Us
Portable long service for workers in the building and construction industry has been around since 1975.
The original legislation was administered by the Long Service Leave Division of the Builders Licensing Board until 1982, when the Building & Construction Industry Long Service Payments Corporation was established.
In 2010, legislation changed our name to the Long Service Corporation to enable us to administer additional portable long service schemes in New South Wales.
On 1 July 2011, the Contract Cleaning Industry (Portable Long Service Leave Scheme) Act 2010 commenced and we now administer long service schemes for workers in both the building and construction and contract cleaning industries in New South Wales.
Prior to the introduction of these schemes, many workers in the building and construction and contract cleaning industries were unable to qualify for an entitlement for leave under the Long Service Leave Act 1955 as they did not remain with the same employer for a long enough period.
The schemes administered by us enable workers to receive long service benefits for their service to their industry.
